A sloppy throw-in by Vivaldo Pádua in the 12th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Academia Monte Gordo's Arana Ponta. In the 14th minute Fabrício Lustosa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but C.J. 张俊朗 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Academia Monte Gordo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Rodrigo Mafra in the 15th minute. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Red Proud FC's goalie and right to Codrin Zamfira. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Red Proud FC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomáš Pliešovský in the 22nd minute of play forced Academia Monte Gordo's goalkeeper Mao Zhen Hong to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fabrício Lustosa scored 1-0 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of C.J. 张俊朗, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Red Proud FC's goalkeeper C.J. 张俊朗, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Red Proud FC's C.J. 张俊朗 proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Red Proud FC from getting a goal against them. Mao Zhen Hong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomáš Pliešovský in the 41st minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The supporters of Red Proud FC booed when Academia Monte Gordo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Codrin Zamfira didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Aipytos Stavropoulos came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Red Proud FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aipytos Stavropoulos couldn't finish the play.
