Angelo Pessoa started the match with the kick off. In the 5th minute, Quintino Carvalhais got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Angelo Pessoa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Antonio Adán made an important save on a dangerous shot by Angelo Pessoa in the 12th minute. In the 14th minute AM United were awarded a corner. Jorge Morais went to the cornerflag to take it. David Bastos didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Zigmantas Gimbutas went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. AM United's attentive Teodoro Freire managed to snatch the ball when Amado Parente made a throw-in in the 26th minute of the game. If Angelo Pessoa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zigmantas Gimbutas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. David Bastos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Antonio Adán made an important save on a dangerous shot by Angelo Pessoa in the 36th minute. AM United were awarded a corner in the 37th minute after SC Braga's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jorge Morais took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of SC Braga's goalie and right to Teodoro Freire. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. SC Braga's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Angelo Pessoa who after having made a long run got a chance for a shot on goal. Despite a couple of nice moves Antonio Adán's wasn't to be fooled and made an easy save when Angelo Pessoa was beeing forced to shoot. 43 minutes into the game, Angelo Carvalhal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. AM United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Braga the free kick. In the 43rd match minute, AM United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Angelo Carvalhal to maneuver through the defense. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zigmantas Gimbutas was the one to do the kick off. SC Braga's Antonio Adán played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Teodoro Freire in the 55th minute of play. In the 58th match minute, SC Braga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pipis Dilberis to maneuver through the defense. 67 minutes into the match, AM United's goal looked a bit too open when Quintino Carvalhais came free, but David Bastos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zigmantas Gimbutas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but David Bastos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. David Bastos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Quintino Carvalhais, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. SC Braga made a substitution. Geraldo Lucas replaced André Jordão. 80 minutes had been played when some careless play by AM United's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Charl De Metser was slow to take the kick. During this time SC Braga's players had a chance to rest. After a defensive mix-up in AM United's zone, Stig-Åke Mattsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. David Bastos came out of the goal and Stig-Åke Mattsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to SC Braga getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Pipis Dilberis hit a great ball. Amado Parente kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. David Bastos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Stig-Åke Mattsson in the 95th minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. SC Braga had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
