The audience thought a goal was coming when Angelo Pessoa got free with Miguel Poças in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 27th minute, Roberto Tinoco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 31 minutes into the match, F.C. Paços de Ferreira's José Bomba sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that David Bastos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The F.C. Paços de Ferreira fans' excitement grew in the 34th match minute when F.C. Paços de Ferreira's José Bomba looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. When José Bomba came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the F.C. Paços de Ferreira fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Bomba couldn't finish the play. AM United's David Bastos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Bomba in the 89th minute of play. David Bastos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Bomba, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Paulo Ferreira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Bastos having to interfere. When the match was over F.C. Paços de Ferreira could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than AM United throughout the match.
