The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. SSV Ulm 1846's Afonso Silveira quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Artur Schade, made in the 4th minute of the game. Prospero Goethe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Don Merlot, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. In the 14thth minute of the game Alberigo Sessa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Friesenwerdermoor's Prospero Goethe was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Timo Courtois took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hermann Luscher, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 23rd minute Ingemar Mense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Timo Courtois saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of SSV Ulm 1846 booed when Friesenwerdermoor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lennard Rossmanith didn't get a good kick on the ball. Artur Schade made in the 31st minute of the game a quick throw-in and Hermann Luscher immediately put the ball in play. In the 32nd minute of the match, Hermann Luscher tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Timo Courtois saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The throw-in from Artur Schade in the 33rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by SSV Ulm 1846's Afonso Silveira. Timo Courtois made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Jamal Roye sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jamal Roye got free with Timo Courtois in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 43rd minute Don Merlot shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Prospero Goethe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Friesenwerdermoor's Prospero Goethe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberigo Sessa in the 46th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Jamal Roye made the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice moves Don Merlot could shoot a difficult shot in the 50th minute, which Prospero Goethe however easily saved by the left post. In the 54th minute Jamal Roye shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Timo Courtois saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Friesenwerdermoor's Prospero Goethe got control of the ball when Don Merlot tried to sneak it across the goal line. 58 minutes into the game, Friesenwerdermoor's Hermann Luscher nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Timo Courtois made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Prospero Goethe made an important save on a dangerous shot by Don Merlot in the 69th minute. When Don Merlot came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the SSV Ulm 1846 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Don Merlot couldn't finish the play. Friesenwerdermoor made a substitution. Pekin Energin replaced Lennard Rossmanith. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Friesenwerdermoor's goalkeeper Prospero Goethe, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Jamal Roye's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Timo Courtois was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. Don Merlot received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Prospero Goethe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 91st minute SSV Ulm 1846 were awarded a corner. Sven-Olof Lilja went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led SSV Ulm 1846's Sven-Olof Lilja to fire away a dangerous shot which Prospero Goethe despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 93 minutes into the match, Friesenwerdermoor's goalkeeper Prospero Goethe had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Don Merlot. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
