Stig Verlengia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Don Merlot, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Timo Courtois was out of position in the 26 minute of play, and Pat Eggers capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Pat Eggers really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. 32 minutes into the match, SSV Ulm 1846's Alberigo Sessa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Stig Verlengia narrowly saved just below the crossbar. SSV Ulm 1846's Timo Courtois played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clinton Werfel in the 35th minute of play. Alberigo Sessa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Liver Bird's zone, Alberigo Sessa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stig Verlengia came out of the goal and Alberigo Sessa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pat Eggers stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Derek Henderson hit a great freekick 50 minutes into the match. SSV Ulm 1846:s Timo Courtois showed great skill when he stopped Goran Lindegger:s penalty. Liver Bird's Stig Verlengia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberigo Sessa in the 55th minute of play. Alberigo Sessa spun around in front of the goal 55 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Liver Bird's goal. Timo Courtois showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pat Eggers in the 63rd minute of the match. When Liver Bird's Pat Eggers in the 65th minute got a chance for a shot 65th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye SSV Ulm 1846's goalie prevented a goal. The supporters of SSV Ulm 1846 booed when Liver Bird was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfred Parolini didn't get a good kick on the ball. Liver Bird made a substitution. Ross Flückiger replaced Alfred Parolini. Stig Verlengia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberigo Sessa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Liver Bird's Jonathan Lamontagne was substituted for Clinton Werfel. 80 minutes into the game, Ross Flückiger threw the ball into play from the sideline. SSV Ulm 1846's Afonso Silveira quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Timo Courtois made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dimitris Rapsopodis in the 93rd minute of play. Alberigo Sessa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stig Verlengia having to interfere. Timo Courtois stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dimitris Rapsopodis's shot from short distance in the 97th minute. When the referee ended the match the Liver Bird players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
