Slawomir Michalski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carolo Rozarius, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlitos Tevez got free with Alfredo Joey in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Stone City's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Marcelo Fero in the 35th minute. The corner ended in Emilio Frasco almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Palermo's Alfredo Joey did a great save. 39 minutes into the match, Stone City's goal looked a bit too open when Santiago Mino came free, but Slawomir Michalski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Palermo's supporters rose to their feet, but Arnoldo Medina was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Slawomir Michalski breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Stone City fans cheered their team off the field, for while Palermo had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
