Valter Xabat started the match with the kick off. A sloppy throw-in by Ionel Gâlcă in the 4th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Alemannia Aachen's Aulis Salomaa. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valter Xabat in the 5th minute of play forced Eintracht Cernavoda's goalkeeper Ionică Corcoveanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 11 minutes into the game, Valter Xabat cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Ionică Corcoveanu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 15th minute Valter Xabat shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ionică Corcoveanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Paulo Goasdoue had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ionică Corcoveanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thomas Müller, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. After some careless play in the Eintracht Cernavoda defense, Valter Xabat kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ionică Corcoveanu. The Eintracht Cernavoda fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ionică Corcoveanu should have stopped the shot. In the 27th minute, Valter Xabat ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ionică Corcoveanu was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Ionel Gâlcă made in the 31st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Alemannia Aachen's Louis Leißner. In the 32nd match minute, Alemannia Aachen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thomas Müller to maneuver through the defense. 33 minutes into the match, Alemannia Aachen's goalkeeper Jess Carnduff had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paulo Goasdoue. 33 minutes into the game, Paulo Goasdoue recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jess Carnduff. Paulo Goasdoue showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. Ionică Corcoveanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valter Xabat, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 43rd minute, Valter Xabat left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Alemannia Aachen fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. In the 45thth minute of the game Valter Xabat who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Eintracht Cernavoda's Ionică Corcoveanu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Eintracht Cernavoda players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Alemannia Aachen were winning 1-4.

In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Eintracht Cernavoda's goalkeeper Ionică Corcoveanu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 53rd minute Alemannia Aachen were awarded a corner. Manfred Kottsieper went to the cornerflag to take it. Eintracht Cernavoda's Ionică Corcoveanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valter Xabat in the 56th minute of play. In the 57thth minute of the game Valter Xabat who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Eintracht Cernavoda's Ionică Corcoveanu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 58th match minute, Eintracht Cernavoda was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mikael Isak to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valter Xabat in the 62nd minute of play forced Eintracht Cernavoda's goalkeeper Ionică Corcoveanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Manfred Kottsieper was slow to take the kick. During this time Alemannia Aachen's players had a chance to rest. Manfred Kottsieper made a great header on Alemannia Aachen's corner, it was just that Eintracht Cernavoda's Ionică Corcoveanu managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 68th minute, Valter Xabat made a precise shot to the right of Ionică Corcoveanu. Eintracht Cernavoda's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-5. Thomas Müller who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 91stth minute tested the skills of Ionică Corcoveanu when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valter Xabat got free with Ionică Corcoveanu in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 94th minute the ball was on its way in behind Eintracht Cernavoda's goalkeeper Ionică Corcoveanu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Alemannia Aachen walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
