A nice corner shot did that Frank Sachs got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Martin Giöck quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Tommy Kahn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Fábio Guimarães in the 7th minute of play. Frank Sachs hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 17th minute Frank Sachs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martin Giöck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 19 minutes into the match, Frank Sachs had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Martin Giöck. FC Bors's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Frank Sachs was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. 23 minutes into the game, Sven-Ove Tillman cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Tommy Kahn was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, FC Bors's Christer Åkesson got a free kick in the 33rd minute. A collision led to Germany getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Adrian Dreifuss hit a great ball. Luiz Fábio Guimarães could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Tommy Kahn made a huge save. 40 minutes had been played when some careless play by Germany's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luiz Fábio Guimarães was slow to take the kick. During this time FC Bors's players had a chance to rest. FC Bors's Luiz Fábio Guimarães was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Tommy Kahn in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. If Gert Stenkvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Germany's Tommy Kahn got control of the ball when Sven-Ove Tillman tried to sneak it across the goal line. Evert Wennersten sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

If Frank Sachs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some careless play in the Germany defense, Luiz Fábio Guimarães kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tommy Kahn. The Germany fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tommy Kahn should have stopped the shot. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
