Hugo Lloris was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Yanko Gurmev got free with Arnout Reekers in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 88th minute, Wim Wilmes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The ПФК Берое fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Netherlands were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
