Spectators: 39 (Terracing: 30, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Sandro Galishoff kicked off to start the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Segundo Remir kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Fabio Auer. That made the score 1-0 in the 2 minute of play. Jonas Nalder made in the 9th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by River Plate's Anastasio Jenaro. When the match had gone on for 11 minutes, Jimeno Montae put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Fabio Auer. The referee gave Austria a penalty, 17 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Sandro Galishoff, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of River Plate's Anier Benvide. 2-1. After a defensive mix-up in Austria's zone, Jimeno Montae stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fabio Auer came out of the goal and Jimeno Montae tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jimeno Montae struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Fabio Auer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River Plate. In the 25th minute Marvin Harrer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anier Benvide saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 26th match minute, River Plate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonatan Hermon to maneuver through the defense. River Plate's Anier Benvide played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabio Schneider in the 33rd minute of play. 34 minutes into the match, Fabio Schneider had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Anier Benvide. River Plate's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fabio Schneider was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Jimeno Montae made the kick off in the second half. After 52 minutes of play, Austria's Fabio Schneider made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Anier Benvide was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of River Plate booed when Austria was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emil Seidler didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Jimeno Montae came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the River Plate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jimeno Montae couldn't finish the play. Anier Eusko kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. In the 67th minute Fabio Schneider shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anier Benvide saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Anier Benvide was out of position in the 68 minute of play, and Fabio Schneider capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Fabio Schneider really showed his touch with that goal: 2-4. After 72 played minutes River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Bernardino Tanio. Anier Benvide didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Fabio Schneider went, in the 76th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-5 was the resulting score. Leonhard Maier hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Austria's Fabio Schneider slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Anier Benvide. That made the score 2-6 after 82 minutes of play. Fabio Schneider's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Anier Benvide read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Hector Virila managed to get in a good position for a shot. River Plate's supporters rose to their feet, but Hector Virila was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fabio Auer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. River Plate's Anier Benvide played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabio Schneider in the 89th minute of play. The River Plate fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Austria were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
