After 22 played minutes Javi Moreno could catch the ball where he stood relatively free a bit outside the goal and without hesitation he completed 3-0 into the left cross. In the 25th match minute, Deportivo Alavés was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Xan Costa to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julio Salinas in the 30th minute of play forced Alfonso Ugarte's goalkeeper Cresconio Menocal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Deportivo Alavés getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Michel Ponce hit a great ball. Cresconio Menocal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julio Salinas in the 35th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Segundo Huarte got free with Cresconio Menocal in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Javi Moreno in the 37th minute of play forced Alfonso Ugarte's goalkeeper Cresconio Menocal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 43 minutes into the game, Deportivo Alavés's Javi Moreno nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cresconio Menocal made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Julio Salinas in the 47th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cresconio Menocal prevented the ball from getting in the gole.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Javi Moreno in the 51st minute of play forced Alfonso Ugarte's goalkeeper Cresconio Menocal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cresconio Menocal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Javi Moreno, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Cresconio Menocal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Javi Moreno in the 56th minute of play. In the 58th minute, Julio Salinas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Deportivo Alavés fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. After 61 played minutes, Deportivo Alavés's Benat Basajaun shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Cresconio Menocal came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Deportivo Alavés reached it. Javi Moreno scored 6-0 in the 62nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cresconio Menocal, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Cresconio Menocal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Segundo Huarte in the 65th minute of the match. Cresconio Menocal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Javi Moreno, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bento Busto hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. When the match had gone on for 81 minutes, Javi Moreno put it in 7-0 from a short distance just to the right of Cresconio Menocal. A collision led to Alfonso Ugarte getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Artemio Quintero hit a great ball. Xan Costa hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. After 89 played minutes Bento Busto rounded Deportivo Alavés's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 7-1. In the 95th minute Javi Moreno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cresconio Menocal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee ended the match the Deportivo Alavés players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
