When Albin Holweck fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Germany's protests and gave Albin Holweck a yellow card for diving instead. Albin Holweck hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Sidónio Candeias scored 1-0 in the 13th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tommy Kahn, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 17th minute Gaspar Pelayo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 18 minutes into the game, Adrian Dreifuss was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Germany's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newell´s the free kick. Despite this Tommy Kahn quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Newell´s's Jesus Gitano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albin Holweck in the 23rd minute of play. After 24 minutes Newell´s's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Frank Sachs who took care of the corner kick. The corner led to Germany's Albin Holweck getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. When Frank Sachs came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Germany fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frank Sachs couldn't finish the play. Tommy Kahn didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sidónio Candeias went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Frank Sachs's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jesus Gitano was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. With a little luck, Germany's Tommy Kahn got control of the ball when Rafael Orain tried to sneak it across the goal line. 41 minutes into the match, Newell´s's goal looked a bit too open when Frank Sachs came free, but Jesus Gitano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Newell´s's players were relieved. 60 minutes into the game, Roberto Barba was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Albin Holweck might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jesus Gitano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Albin Holweck ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 71st minute Gaspar Pelayo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Germany's Tommy Kahn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gaspar Pelayo in the 73rd minute of play.
