Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After having played for 8 minutes, Magno Pernambucano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. EC Bahia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Magno Pernambucano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Brendon Winstanley recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 14 minutes into the game, Darwen's Ty Turnbull nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Zé Augusto de Brito made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Brendon Winstanley in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zé Augusto de Brito saved EC Bahia from getting behind. 22 minutes into the match, EC Bahia's goal looked a bit too open when Ty Turnbull came free, but Zé Augusto de Brito reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ty Turnbull received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Zé Augusto de Brito tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 29th minute, Brendon Winstanley left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Darwen fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. In the 32nd minute, Ty Turnbull ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zé Augusto de Brito was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Egídio Neto kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. 42 minutes into the game, Egídio Neto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. EC Bahia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Darwen the free kick. After 42 played minutes EC Bahia got a freekick which was hit by Egídio Neto. Zé Augusto de Brito made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ty Turnbull in the 43rd minute of play. Vânderson Porto kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by William Gerber during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 46th match minute, EC Bahia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by William Gerber to maneuver through the defense. When Brendon Winstanley came up free with the goalie in the 49th minute, the Darwen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Brendon Winstanley couldn't finish the play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dráuzio de Godoi to strike the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, EC Bahia's Zé Augusto de Brito got control of the ball when Ty Turnbull tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ed Kenworthy's late challenge caught a EC Bahia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ed Kenworthy helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Darwen's Ed Kenworthy got a free kick in the 60th minute. Dráuzio de Godoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brendon Edworthy having to interfere. Brendon Edworthy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Magno Pernambucano in the 75th minute of play. 77 minutes into the match, EC Bahia's goalkeeper Zé Augusto de Brito had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ty Turnbull. Brendon Winstanley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. EC Bahia's defense didn't have a chance, in the 79th minute, when Ty Turnbull scored to the left of an out of position Zé Augusto de Brito, making the score, 0-5. In the 87th minute Dráuzio de Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brendon Edworthy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 89 played minutes EC Bahia got a freekick which was hit by Vânderson Porto. Zé Augusto de Brito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brendon Winstanley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Brendon Winstanley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
