The Balla Bollar fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ian Vestlund should have stopped the shot. In the 21st minute Nils Säfström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristiano Prata saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Corinthians Paulista getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Fábio do Valle hit a great ball. Cristiano Prata made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Magnus Glanselius in the 32nd minute of play. Ian Vestlund took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luciano Souza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Kléber Valle managed to get in a good position for a shot. Corinthians Paulista's supporters rose to their feet, but Kléber Valle was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ian Vestlund breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 39 played minutes Corinthians Paulista got a freekick which was hit by Claudinei Amorim. Alvin Axelsson was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 40th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Magnus Glanselius fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristiano Prata having to interfere. Cristiano Prata made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Nils Säfström sent off a good shot on target. Ian Vestlund showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dieguinho Marinho in the 47th minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luciano Souza to make the kick off. Cristiano Prata showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nils Säfström in the 51st minute of the match. 53 minutes into the game, Kléber Valle cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Magnus Glanselius in the 63rd minute of play forced Corinthians Paulista's goalkeeper Cristiano Prata to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Balla Bollar's Torgny Falck was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Cristiano Prata in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. When the match had gone on for 67 minutes, Jonas Wiman put it in 1-4 from a short distance just to the right of Cristiano Prata. Balla Bollar's Frank Kullgren was substituted for Torgny Alin. After 73 minutes, Olof Nyberg mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Balla Bollar and the Corinthians Paulista players grew even worse after the yellow card. Nils Säfström's late challenge caught a Corinthians Paulista's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
