With an extended leg and a bit of luck Milian Basel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Micah Macdonald fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Milian Basel having to interfere. Kyle Cox's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Milian Basel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. Kyle Cox took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Milian Basel. Milian Basel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. In the 29th minute, Micah Macdonald made a precise shot to the right of Milian Basel. As de Ouro's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. After having played for 32 minutes, Micah Macdonald managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. England's supporters crossed their fingers, but Micah Macdonald was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jorge Terra hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Serafim Messias received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Khalid Kennedy came out and tried to block the shot, but Serafim Messias slotted it home off the left post making it 2-3 in the 39th minute. 44 minutes into the match, England's Micah Macdonald sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Milian Basel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After the first half England were leading 2-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Milian Basel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Micah Macdonald, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute.
