In the 8th minute of the match Goo Goo Dolls got a corner. Galo do Cerrado's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Olimpiu Dragnea ran over to the corner to take the kick. Beto dos Santos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Benjamin Cuss showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Almantas Plungys in the 17th minute of the match. In the 18thth minute of the game Beto dos Santos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Goo Goo Dolls's Benjamin Cuss was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Beto dos Santos in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benjamin Cuss saved Goo Goo Dolls from getting behind. Goo Goo Dolls's Benjamin Cuss played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Beto dos Santos in the 23rd minute of play. With a little luck, Galo do Cerrado's Vicente Barbosa got control of the ball when Cacá Mangione tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Cacá Mangione kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Vicente Barbosa. That made the score 1-0 in the 27 minute of play. Benjamin Cuss showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Beto dos Santos, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Galo do Cerrado were awarded a corner in the 32th minute after Goo Goo Dolls's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Severino Novaes took the corner. Severino Novaes made a great header on Galo do Cerrado's corner, it was just that Goo Goo Dolls's Benjamin Cuss managed to reach the ball for a save. Vicente Barbosa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olimpiu Dragnea, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Beto dos Santos in the 36th minute of play forced Goo Goo Dolls's goalkeeper Benjamin Cuss to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 38 minutes into the match, Galo do Cerrado's goalkeeper Vicente Barbosa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Matteo Gillis. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Beto dos Santos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gerry Greenfield hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Beto dos Santos scored 1-1 in the 55th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benjamin Cuss, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Benjamin Cuss took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Almantas Plungys, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 62 minutes into the match, Beto dos Santos notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Goo Goo Dolls's Benjamin Cuss. Benjamin Cuss was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a rather tough play, Goo Goo Dolls's Gerry Greenfield got a free kick in the 70th minute. Benjamin Cuss took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Evelio Peli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Goo Goo Dolls were furious when Fábio Quintal was red carded, 78 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 78th match minute, Goo Goo Dolls was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fábio Quintal to maneuver through the defense. 79 minutes into the match, Goo Goo Dolls's goal looked a bit too open when Severino Novaes came free, but Benjamin Cuss reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 82 minutes into the match, Beto dos Santos dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Benjamin Cuss, 1-3. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Galo do Cerrado would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
