Basarab Irod started the match with the kick off. A collision led to Academia Rio getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Grigore Cristoloveanu hit a great ball. Gigel Tilea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robert Onofrei in the 11th minute of the match. Anton Cucerdean sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The corner led Ninjas in Pyjamas's Codrin Zdrobău to fire away a dangerous shot which Gigel Tilea despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 22nd minute of the match Ninjas in Pyjamas got a corner. Academia Rio's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Costin Cârneci ran over to the corner to take the kick. Gigel Tilea stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Anton Cucerdean's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Anton Cucerdean in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gigel Tilea saved Academia Rio from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robert Onofrei in the 31st minute of play forced Academia Rio's goalkeeper Gigel Tilea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Anton Cucerdean recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Academia Rio getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Mihai Oniga hit a great ball. When Robert Onofrei came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Ninjas in Pyjamas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Robert Onofrei couldn't finish the play. Cai Yue Guang showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sergiu Coșeriu in the 43rd minute of the match. Gigel Tilea made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Anton Cucerdean sent off a good shot on target. In the 49th minute, Jean Oltean hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Robert Onofrei made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute Anton Cucerdean shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gigel Tilea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sergiu Coșeriu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 58thth minute tested the skills of Cai Yue Guang when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Alexandru Negreanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gigel Tilea having to interfere. Dorel Nedelciu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ninjas in Pyjamas's Cai Yue Guang played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dorel Nedelciu in the 69th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marin Giubelean in the 70th minute of play forced Ninjas in Pyjamas's goalkeeper Cai Yue Guang to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dorel Nedelciu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Cai Yue Guang made a huge save. Cai Yue Guang made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dorel Nedelciu in the 76th minute of play. 80 minutes into the match, Ninjas in Pyjamas's Robert Onofrei sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gigel Tilea narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jean Oltean hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Anton Cucerdean sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Ninjas in Pyjamas getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Codrin Zdrobău hit a great ball. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
