Antonio Benavente was in a good position and ended up with the ball after Alfonso Ugarte's free kick, but he didn't get a good hit on the ball and blazed it high and to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Botafogo MZRJ's Maurício Félix got a free kick in the 28th minute. When Maurício Félix fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. After a defensive mix-up in Alfonso Ugarte's zone, Jailson Capixaba stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nistor Zdrobiş came out of the goal and Jailson Capixaba tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alfonso Ugarte's Manuel Roncesvalles pulled a muscle in his leg after 62 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Alfonso Ugarte made a substitution. Fernando Vellon replaced Manuel Roncesvalles. A sloppy throw-in by Carlo Santa María in the 69th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Botafogo MZRJ's Maurício Félix. In the 70th minute, Antonio Benavente made a precise shot to the right of José Vítor Netto. Botafogo MZRJ's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Carlo Santa María made in the 94th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Botafogo MZRJ's Álvaro Melo.
