Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Anfilogino Sasso started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernt Van den Dries in the 3rd minute of play forced FC SOLOTHURN's goalkeeper Josué Macedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 9th minute, Jacob Madruga ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nistor Zdrobiş was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Alfonso Ugarte's goalkeeper Nistor Zdrobiş, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 20th minute, Julian Vieitez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Alfonso Ugarte's zone, Gheorghe Hagi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nistor Zdrobiş came out of the goal and Gheorghe Hagi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bernt Van den Dries's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Josué Macedo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. 27 minutes into the match, Alfonso Ugarte's goalkeeper Nistor Zdrobiş had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jacob Madruga. 29 minutes into the match, FC SOLOTHURN's goal looked a bit too open when Bernt Van den Dries came free, but Josué Macedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mikele Giurcă made a great header on Alfonso Ugarte's corner, it was just that FC SOLOTHURN's Josué Macedo managed to reach the ball for a save. An unexpected shot in the 37th minute by Gheorghe Hagi got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The supporters of FC SOLOTHURN booed when Alfonso Ugarte was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hernan Galdamez didn't get a good kick on the ball.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Antonio Benavente to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute of the match Alfonso Ugarte got a corner. FC SOLOTHURN's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Mikele Giurcă ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Alfonso Ugarte's Mikele Giurcă to fire away a dangerous shot which Josué Macedo despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After a rather tough play, FC SOLOTHURN's Corrado Berardi got a free kick in the 55th minute. Nistor Zdrobiş made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anfilogino Sasso in the 60th minute of play. FC SOLOTHURN's Josué Macedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antonio Benavente in the 63rd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bernt Van den Dries got free with Josué Macedo in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Antonio Benavente in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Josué Macedo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nistor Zdrobiş showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anfilogino Sasso in the 69th minute of the match. Nistor Zdrobiş made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Panait Stolniciu in the 71st minute of play. Josué Macedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antonio Benavente, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Alfonso Ugarte's zone, Gheorghe Hagi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nistor Zdrobiş came out of the goal and Gheorghe Hagi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Panait Stolniciu might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nistor Zdrobiş. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Panait Stolniciu ran back to his position shaking his head. When Alfonso Ugarte's Antonio Benavente in the 94th minute got a chance for a shot 94th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC SOLOTHURN's goalie prevented a goal.
