But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernt Van den Dries couldn't finish the play. In the 37th minute, Julian Vieitez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 47 minutes, Ediberto Sampaio put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Nistor Zdrobiş.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Antonio Benavente stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 95 played minutes Merengue FC got a freekick which was hit by Albino Dimas. 98 minutes into the match, Alfonso Ugarte's goal looked a bit too open when Aquiles Urtsin came free, but Nistor Zdrobiş reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
