After a defensive mix-up in Austria's zone, Apolo Véjar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fabio Auer came out of the goal and Apolo Véjar tried to chip the ball over his head. Ramón Fridman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabio Auer having to interfere. The wind increased when Sandro Galishoff made the kick off in the second half. Austria's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Sandro Galishoff in the 54th minute. The corner ended in Sandro Galishoff almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Paulo Diaz y 10 mas's Constantino Angeloni did a great save. Marc Kronecker's late challenge caught a Paulo Diaz y 10 mas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
