Grêmio 20 Julho's Sylwester Zarobski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wei Guang Xing in the 5th minute of play. Sylwester Zarobski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wei Guang Xing in the 6th minute of play. 9 minutes into the match, MONTANHA's goal looked a bit too open when Valdir Cavalcante came free, but Jens Mikaelsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 10th minute of the match Grêmio 20 Julho got a corner. MONTANHA's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Franklin Galvão ran over to the corner to take the kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Radomir Narbut got free with Sylwester Zarobski in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Grêmio 20 Julho's Humberto Soeiro got a free kick in the 16th minute. MONTANHA's Víctor Cuesta shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 17th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Sylwester Zarobski but with some difficulty. Jens Mikaelsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valdir Cavalcante, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. After some careless play in the Grêmio 20 Julho defense, Wei Guang Xing kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sylwester Zarobski. The Grêmio 20 Julho fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sylwester Zarobski should have stopped the shot. 26 minutes into the match, Grêmio 20 Julho's goalkeeper Sylwester Zarobski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Radomir Narbut. In the 29th minute Wei Guang Xing shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sylwester Zarobski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jens Mikaelsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilmar Romero, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. The crowd rose to their feet as MONTANHA's Wei Guang Xing slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sylwester Zarobski. That made the score 2-0 after 41 minutes of play. After a rather tough play, Grêmio 20 Julho's Humberto Soeiro got a free kick in the 44th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Valdir Cavalcante stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Valdemar de Amaral came free with the goalkeeper in the 52nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jens Mikaelsson could save by the left post. Jens Mikaelsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilmar Romero in the 53rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Radomir Narbut in the 55th minute of play forced Grêmio 20 Julho's goalkeeper Sylwester Zarobski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 57 minutes into the match, Grêmio 20 Julho's goal looked a bit too open when Radomir Narbut came free, but Sylwester Zarobski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 58th minute of the match, Valdemar de Amaral got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jens Mikaelsson was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Fernandinho Cearense's late challenge caught a MONTANHA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. MONTANHA's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
