Paulo Gaizkine stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rafael Sobis's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. Ernesto de Amaral hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Paulo Gaizkine had great luck who in the 18thth minute grab hold of the ball when Luiz Guilherme Varela from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. 19 minutes into the match, Bandelocos's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Alberto Soares came free, but Nilson do Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 21st minute Catugi FC were awarded a corner. Erik Sanches went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Evaristo de Souza almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Bandelocos's Nilson do Vale did a great save. The referee felt a red card was in order, 23 minutes into the game, when Benjamim Alvarenga put in a rough tackle. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 23rd minute of the game. One of Catugi FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Bandelocos:s goal. Catugi FC:s Paulo Gaizkine showed great skill when he stopped Luís Gustavo Urbano:s penalty. With a little luck, Catugi FC's Paulo Gaizkine got control of the ball when Betão Quirino tried to sneak it across the goal line. Bandelocos's Nilson do Vale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Walmir Pombal in the 30th minute of play. If Henry Tormes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Catugi FC's Paulo Gaizkine got control of the ball when Rafael Sobis tried to sneak it across the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rafael Sobis was the one to do the kick off. Nilson do Vale made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Walmir Pombal sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rafael Sobis in the 57th minute of play forced Catugi FC's goalkeeper Paulo Gaizkine to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 61st minute of the match, Walmir Pombal got a very nice opportunity to score, but Nilson do Vale was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Thanks to some nice moves Walmir Pombal could shoot a difficult shot in the 66th minute, which Nilson do Vale however easily saved by the left post. Nilson do Vale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Evaristo de Souza in the 69th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Walmir Pombal in the 73rd minute of play forced Bandelocos's goalkeeper Nilson do Vale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 75th minute of the match Catugi FC got a corner. Bandelocos's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Erik Sanches ran over to the corner to take the kick. It was a well-played corner which Edson Couto managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bandelocos's goalkeeper Nilson do Vale, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Evaristo de Souza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 80th minute, Walmir Pombal reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Nilson do Vale. The goal made the score 1-3. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Maurinho Vargas during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Bandelocos getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Maurinho Vargas hit a great ball. In the 88th minute, Walmir Pombal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rafael Sobis in the 93rd minute of play forced Catugi FC's goalkeeper Paulo Gaizkine to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paulo Gaizkine made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maurinho Vargas in the 96th minute of play. The Catugi FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Catugi FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
