With an all-out effort, Grêmio 20 Julho's Flavinho Reis threw himself towards the right post 5 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Valdir Cavalcante, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. CE LAJEADENSE RS's Flavinho Reis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilmar Romero in the 9th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Valdir Cavalcante in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Flavinho Reis saved CE LAJEADENSE RS from getting behind. In the 12th minute, Celsinho Castro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Flavinho Reis stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gilmar Romero's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. Caetano Saad kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. CE LAJEADENSE RS's Flavinho Reis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdir Cavalcante in the 21st minute of play. In the 25th minute Gilmar Romero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavinho Reis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Valdir Cavalcante was the one to do the kick off. Valdir Cavalcante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flavinho Reis having to interfere. Franklin Galvão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Grêmio 20 Julho's Sylwester Zarobski proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Grêmio 20 Julho from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Grêmio 20 Julho booed when CE LAJEADENSE RS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jhon Arias didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Grêmio 20 Julho getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Tiaguinho Saldanha hit a great ball. The long shot by Rodrigo Ely in the 68th minute really tested Sylwester Zarobski's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. A very good chance. 72 minutes into the game, Grêmio 20 Julho's Fernandinho Cearense nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Flavinho Reis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. After a defensive mix-up in CE LAJEADENSE RS's zone, Valdir Cavalcante stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Flavinho Reis came out of the goal and Valdir Cavalcante tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 85th minute, Anísio Koehler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aloísio Donato sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Grêmio 20 Julho's Amílton de Andrade got a free kick in the 91st minute. After a defensive mix-up in CE LAJEADENSE RS's zone, Valdir Cavalcante stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Flavinho Reis came out of the goal and Valdir Cavalcante tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 96 played minutes CE LAJEADENSE RS got a freekick which was hit by Celsinho Castro. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdir Cavalcante in the 98th minute of play forced CE LAJEADENSE RS's goalkeeper Flavinho Reis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee ended the match the Grêmio 20 Julho players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
