When the match clock showed 17 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Grisha Mbappè sped through SC Braga's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Antonio Adán. Adilson Moraes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Quintino Carvalhais in the 21st minute of the match. In the 22nd match minute, SC Braga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Jordão to maneuver through the defense. When Quintino Carvalhais, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 25 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Adilson Moraes was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. 33 minutes into the game, Zigmantas Gimbutas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Adilson Moraes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paulão Bezerra got free with Antonio Adán in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Paulão Bezerra kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 36thth minute. Though ot was a great shot SC Braga's keeper Antonio Adán was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. Antonio Adán stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jurgen Iwens's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jurgen Iwens in the 46th minute of play forced SC Braga's goalkeeper Antonio Adán to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Antonio Adán was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in SC Braga's zone, Jurgen Iwens stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Antonio Adán came out of the goal and Jurgen Iwens tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 86th minute, Pipis Dilberis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Stig-Åke Mattsson came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the SC Braga fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stig-Åke Mattsson couldn't finish the play. In the 94th minute, Stig-Åke Mattsson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SC Braga fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3.
