With an all-out effort, SC Braga's Luís Fernando Almeida threw himself towards the right post 19 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Zigmantas Gimbutas, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 36 minutes in the game Pipis Dilberis did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Lu Xun Lei. Antonio Adán showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lenílson Peres in the 37th minute of the match. Quintino Carvalhais could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Luís Fernando Almeida made a huge save. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Alberto Malheiro got a throw-in 53 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Lu Xun Lei. After 55 minutes of play, Febre Amarela's Lenílson Peres made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Antonio Adán was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of SC Braga booed when Febre Amarela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position.
