Caxias do Sul's goal looked a bit too open when Lenílson Peres came free, but Esen Sanal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Febre Amarela's Adil Vavasseur was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Esen Sanal in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Lenílson Peres took the ball and in the 16 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Esen Sanal. Esen Sanal dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Lenílson Peres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Esen Sanal having to interfere. Febre Amarela's Luís Fernando Almeida proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Febre Amarela from getting a goal against them. Lucio Siekkötter blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luís Fernando Almeida having to make a save. When Lenílson Peres came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Febre Amarela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lenílson Peres couldn't finish the play. After 40 played minutes S.E.R. Caxias do Sul got a freekick which was hit by Gláuber Tande. Lenílson Peres blasted a shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Esen Sanal having to make a save.

In the 53rd match minute, Febre Amarela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lenílson Peres to maneuver through the defense. Luís Fernando Almeida showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Renato Augusto in the 55th minute of the match. Lenílson Peres struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Esen Sanal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Febre Amarela. In the 65th match minute, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Krisztián Véber to maneuver through the defense. Gláuber Tande made in the 68th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Febre Amarela's Umberto Britto. In the 76th minute Lucio Siekkötter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Fernando Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wellington Fonseca kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. In the 78th minute, Artur Barral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luís Fernando Almeida showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ricardinho de Senna, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lenílson Peres in the 84th minute of play forced S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goalkeeper Esen Sanal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Lucio Siekkötter's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luís Fernando Almeida was relentless in the 89th minute of the game. Febre Amarela's Artur Barral pulled a muscle in his leg after 90 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 90 minutes, Lucio Siekkötter mouthed his way into the referee's book.
