The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Newells Old Boys's zone, Mateo Llope stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Yalçın Erensoy came out of the goal and Mateo Llope tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mateo Llope got free with Yalçın Erensoy in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kenny N'Diaye in the 11th minute of play forced Domínguez AFC's goalkeeper 김 탄 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Romulo Duardo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Yalçın Erensoy. That made the score 1-0 in the 15 minute of play. 19 minutes into the match, Newells Old Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Alejo Sabino came free, but Yalçın Erensoy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Newells Old Boys's Yalçın Erensoy proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Newells Old Boys from getting a goal against them. When Fidel Cordareo fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Domínguez AFC's protests and gave Fidel Cordareo a yellow card for diving instead. Fidel Cordareo hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. The supporters of Newells Old Boys booed when Domínguez AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Galsino Camino didn't get a good kick on the ball. 김 탄 showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kenny N'Diaye, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Yalçın Erensoy made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mateo Llope in the 29th minute. Yalçın Erensoy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fidel Cordareo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Yalçın Erensoy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alejo Sabino in the 33rd minute of the match. Alfonso Gabrio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Yalçın Erensoy made a huge save. With an all-out effort, Domínguez AFC's Yalçın Erensoy threw himself towards the right post 44 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Alejo Sabino, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Kenny N'Diaye fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without 김 탄 having to interfere. Kenny N'Diaye scored 1-1 in the 48th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of 김 탄, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Romulo Duardo to make the kick off. Alejo Sabino took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Yalçın Erensoy. Yalçın Erensoy dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Yalçın Erensoy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mateo Llope in the 59th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kenny N'Diaye in the 64th minute of play forced Domínguez AFC's goalkeeper 김 탄 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Domínguez AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. 74 minutes into the match, Domínguez AFC's Alejo Sabino sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Yalçın Erensoy narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Yalçın Erensoy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Romulo Duardo, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. 77 minutes into the match, Romulo Duardo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Yalçın Erensoy. Newells Old Boys's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Romulo Duardo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Başaran Tuncay during the 80th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 81 played minutes Newells Old Boys got a freekick which was hit by Başaran Tuncay. If Romulo Duardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 91st minute of the match Domínguez AFC got a corner. Newells Old Boys's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Bernabe Weterio ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Bernabe Weterio almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Newells Old Boys's Yalçın Erensoy did a great save. Yalçın Erensoy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alejo Sabino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Newells Old Boys's Dirk Kuijt got a free kick in the 94th minute. A collision led to Domínguez AFC getting a freekick after 97 minutes play. Galsino Camino hit a great ball. When the referee ended the match the Domínguez AFC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
