After a rather tough play, Templars FC's Martin Manicolo got a free kick in the 14th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kurt Abdilla got free with Fredric Hansson in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 30 minutes into the game, Christopher Bugelli threw the ball into play from the sideline. Templars FC's Francileudo Faarø quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Kurt Abdilla recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Samuel Demicoli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nick Farrugia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Meerkats FC's Fredric Hansson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kurt Abdilla in the 37th minute of play. 38 minutes into the game, Meerkats FC's Vincent Callus nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Samuel Demicoli made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 51st minute Kurt Abdilla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fredric Hansson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 53rd match minute, Meerkats FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nick Farrugia to maneuver through the defense. In the 57th minute of the match, Nick Farrugia tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Samuel Demicoli saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kurt Abdilla couldn't finish the play. In the 80th minute, Lawrence Gonzi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 88th match minute, Meerkats FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robert Portanier to maneuver through the defense. Christopher Bugelli charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Christopher Bugelli the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 90 played minutes Meerkats FC got a freekick which was hit by Christopher Bugelli. In the 95th match minute, Templars FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lawrence Gonzi to maneuver through the defense. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
