Croatia's defense didn't have a chance, in the 30th minute, when Ademar Cabral scored to the left of an out of position Ilija Skugor, making the score, 2-0. Ademar Cabral might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ilija Skugor. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ademar Cabral ran back to his position shaking his head. Ilija Skugor made an important save on a dangerous shot by Betão Neves in the 38th minute. After 39 played minutes Croatia got a freekick which was hit by Damir Pongrac. 40 minutes into the match, Betão Neves notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Croatia's Ilija Skugor. Ilija Skugor was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Croatia's Ilija Skugor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Betão Neves in the 44th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

Toni Mauzer's late challenge caught a Trembolona's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Toni Mauzer helped the player get up and apologised. In the 61st match minute, Croatia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Toni Mauzer to maneuver through the defense. In the 64thth minute of the game Betão Neves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Croatia's Ilija Skugor was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Trembolona getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Ademir Silva hit a great ball. 66 minutes into the game, Croatia's Dinko Stankovic nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Carlinhos Furlan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. Ilija Skugor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Betão Neves in the 69th minute of the match. 70 minutes into the game, Marcos Santos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-1. Ilija Skugor was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Betão Neves struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Ilija Skugor didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Trembolona. 76 minutes into the match, Croatia's goal looked a bit too open when Betão Neves came free, but Ilija Skugor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Croatia defense, Marcos Santos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ilija Skugor. The Croatia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ilija Skugor should have stopped the shot. Ilija Skugor didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Aílton Guimarães went, in the 96th minute, to the upper right corner, 9-1 was the resulting score.
