Hertha 1969's Rune Jarstein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valter Xabat in the 7th minute of play. Alemannia Aachen's attentive Valter Xabat managed to snatch the ball when Ziemowit Tscherner made a throw-in in the 9th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thomas Müller in the 10th minute of play forced Hertha 1969's goalkeeper Rune Jarstein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 14th minute of the match Hertha 1969 got a corner. Alemannia Aachen's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. The Alemannia Aachen fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. In the 24th minute, Valter Xabat ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rune Jarstein was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zé Paulo da Silva got free with Jess Carnduff in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manfred Kottsieper in the 29th minute of play forced Hertha 1969's goalkeeper Rune Jarstein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 36th minute Wilhelm Nienhaus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jess Carnduff saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 88th match minute, Alemannia Aachen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thomas Müller to maneuver through the defense. 90 minutes into the game, Ziemowit Tscherner threw the ball into play from the sideline. Alemannia Aachen's La Rat quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. When the match clock showed 91 minutes, the score became 2-3 when Zé Paulo da Silva sped through Alemannia Aachen's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jess Carnduff. Rune Jarstein made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valter Xabat in the 95th minute of play. Valter Xabats short, quick shot in the 95thth minute got Rune Jarstein to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Alemannia Aachen had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
