An unexpectedly hard shot by Ahmet Hamdi Ortan in the 12th minute of play forced Club Atlético Atlanta's goalkeeper Pankracy Glogowski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benigno Abreu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but George Buturugã read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. In the 22nd minute Sulo Montaña shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pankracy Glogowski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Despite this Pankracy Glogowski quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Pankracy Glogowski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sulo Montaña, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 40 minutes into the match, LOI's goal looked a bit too open when Alfonso Goicoechea came free, but George Buturugã reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alfonso Goicoechea in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg George Buturugã saved LOI from getting behind. In the 40thth minute of the game Alfonso Goicoechea who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but LOI's George Buturugã was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. LOI were furious when Atak Koral was red carded, 42 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. LOI made a substitution. Tayyip Taylan replaced Özgür Özbay. In a very dangerous position, a player in LOI fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 42nd minute. Penalty! In the 98th minute Benigno Abreu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but George Buturugã saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. LOI's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
