Diguinho Carioca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 7 minutes had been played when some careless play by C o n f i a n ç a - SE's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was slow to take the kick. During this time Netherlands's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Lars Meesters recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clayton Pedron, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Diguinho Carioca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wim Wilmes, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 18th minute of play forced C o n f i a n ç a - SE's goalkeeper Diguinho Carioca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Clayton Pedron in the 25th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jeremias Maia got free with Arnout Reekers in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 30th minute. The corner led Netherlands's Wim Wilmes to fire away a dangerous shot which Diguinho Carioca despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Gijsbert ter Kruimer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Arthur Barbosa kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Lars Meesters fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diguinho Carioca having to interfere. 44 minutes into the match, C o n f i a n ç a - SE's goal looked a bit too open when Gijsbert ter Kruimer came free, but Diguinho Carioca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Clayton Pedron stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. C o n f i a n ç a - SE's Diguinho Carioca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars Meesters in the 54th minute of play. The nice shot from Wim Wilmes in the 56thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Diguinho Carioca had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. A nice corner shot did that Gijsbert ter Kruimer got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Diguinho Carioca quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 59th minute of the match, Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Diguinho Carioca saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 62nd match minute, C o n f i a n ç a - SE was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valer Donose to maneuver through the defense. In the 64th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt made a precise shot to the right of Diguinho Carioca. C o n f i a n ç a - SE's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. In the 78th minute, Netherlands's Lars Meesters ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Diguinho Carioca. Diguinho Carioca yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. C o n f i a n ç a - SE's attentive Ernesto Monteiro managed to snatch the ball when Gust Ennemans made a throw-in in the 80th minute of the game. 84 minutes into the game, Jeremias Maia cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Arnout Reekers was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 91st minute of play forced C o n f i a n ç a - SE's goalkeeper Diguinho Carioca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Netherlands played a much better game than C o n f i a n ç a - SE and deserved their victory. The C o n f i a n ç a - SE players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
