The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Esat Serhad took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manfred Mayrhofer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Garip Uygar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matthäus Fischer having to interfere. Erdem Attar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Matthäus Fischer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Garip Uygar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Boven FC's zone, Zekeriya Kahveci stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Matthäus Fischer came out of the goal and Zekeriya Kahveci tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mesut Rıza kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Erdem Attar's late challenge caught a Boven FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Erdem Attar helped the player get up and apologised. In the 20th minute, Erdem Attar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Yesiltepespor's Mehdi Sorgun got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Esat Serhad took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manfred Mayrhofer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Matthäus Fischer came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by Yesiltepespor's Zekeriya Kahveci. But to his dismay, Zekeriya Kahveci quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Esat Serhad showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Florian Schmithuysen, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Erdem Attar who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 41stth minute tested the skills of Matthäus Fischer when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Florian Schmithuysen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Florian Schmithuysen to make the kick off. Yesiltepespor's Esat Serhad played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manfred Mayrhofer in the 53rd minute of play. If Erdem Attar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 59 minutes into the match, Yesiltepespor's goal looked a bit too open when Florian Schmithuysen came free, but Esat Serhad reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 64 minutes, Anton Brunck mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Boven FC and the Yesiltepespor players grew even worse after the yellow card. Matthäus Fischer had in the 65thth minute some difficulties stopping Garip Uygar's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Mesut Rıza might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Matthäus Fischer. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mesut Rıza ran back to his position shaking his head. Mesut Rıza hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. After 70 minutes of play Boven FC's Manfred Mayrhofer was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Yesiltepespor booed when Boven FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manfred Mayrhofer didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 72 played minutes Yesiltepespor got a freekick which was hit by Mesut Rıza. After some careless play in the Boven FC defense, Erdem Attar kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Matthäus Fischer. The Boven FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Matthäus Fischer should have stopped the shot. Garip Uygar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Boven FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
