In the 6th minute of the match Adalberto Maranhense sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Şensoy Tecer skillfully saved the ball. In the 7th match minute, Beşiktaş was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anıl Arda İğdemir to maneuver through the defense. Beşiktaş's Atıf Servet got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 22nd minute, Anıl Arda İğdemir hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Beşiktaş's Şensoy Tecer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hélio Meireles in the 23rd minute of play. Atıf Servet might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zé Roberto do Vale. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Atıf Servet ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 29thth minute of the game Hélio Meireles who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Beşiktaş's Şensoy Tecer was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Santos FC's Hélio Meireles in the 31st minute got a chance for a shot 31st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Beşiktaş's goalie prevented a goal. During the 31st minute of the match Anıl Arda İğdemir completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Anıl Arda İğdemir a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Anıl Arda İğdemir kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. In the 35th minute Célio Custódio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Şensoy Tecer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Beşiktaş's Zekeriya Uskan got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Célio Custódio made the kick off in the second half. Atıf Servet hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Hélio Meireles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Şensoy Tecer having to interfere. Zekeriya Uskan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Beşiktaş booed when Santos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Natã Linhares didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match clock showed 56 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Atıf Servet sped through Santos FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Zé Roberto do Vale. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Santos FC's goalkeeper Zé Roberto do Vale, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 60 minutes, Benê Antunes put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Şensoy Tecer. Through an outstanding action, after 63 minutes, Şensoy Tecer successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Benê Antunes got free with Şensoy Tecer in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Beşiktaş's Zekeriya Uskan got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Atıf Servet might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zé Roberto do Vale. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Atıf Servet ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 77th minute, Célio Custódio fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Şensoy Tecer, passed just outside the right post. The supporters of Santos FC booed when Beşiktaş was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Şener Makbul didn't get a good kick on the ball. Beşiktaş's Şensoy Tecer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Beto Domingues in the 87th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 87 minutes, Célio Custódio took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Şensoy Tecer to make any attempt to save it. Şensoy Tecer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Célio Custódio in the 91st minute of play. When the match had gone on for 92 minutes, Benê Antunes put it in 2-3 from a short distance just to the right of Şensoy Tecer. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Santos FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
