Cumbe EC's Tony de Alcântara proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Cumbe EC from getting a goal against them. In the 51st minute, Melquiades Lizar ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tony de Alcântara was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. Calchín FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Mateo Tancredo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tony de Alcântara breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 71st minute, Melquiades Lizar made a precise shot to the right of Tony de Alcântara. Cumbe EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 6-1. When Calchín FC's Higinio Lapurdi in the 74th minute got a chance for a shot 74th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. An unexpectedly hard shot by Higinio Lapurdi in the 93rd minute of play forced Cumbe EC's goalkeeper Tony de Alcântara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Cumbe EC defense, Melquiades Lizar kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tony de Alcântara. The Cumbe EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tony de Alcântara should have stopped the shot. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Calchín FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Cumbe EC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
