After some careless play in the Palestra do Interior defense, Silvério Barral kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Antônio Carlos Cavalcante. The Palestra do Interior fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Antônio Carlos Cavalcante should have stopped the shot. Ronaldo Pirani fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Xandinho Bomba having to interfere.
