Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Reynaldo Custódio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Major Barna in the 9th minute of play. 11 minutes into the match, Borussia Dortmund's goal looked a bit too open when Major Barna came free, but Reynaldo Custódio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fodor Daniel made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Paul Tolkmitt sent off a good shot on target. Hungary's Fodor Daniel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Hungary from getting a goal against them. Jens Burmeister received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Fodor Daniel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 21 minutes into the match, Borussia Dortmund's goal looked a bit too open when Major Barna came free, but Reynaldo Custódio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 21st minute, Major Barna left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hungary fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Borussia Dortmund's zone, Antal Valentin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reynaldo Custódio came out of the goal and Antal Valentin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marinus Buhr kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Antal Valentin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Reynaldo Custódio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 37 minutes into the match, Borussia Dortmund's goal looked a bit too open when Takacs Tibor came free, but Reynaldo Custódio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 39th minute Hungary were awarded a corner. Antal Valentin went to the cornerflag to take it. A collision led to Hungary getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Bakos Endre hit a great ball. Antal Valentin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reynaldo Custódio having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Hungary's Balazs Lajos got a free kick in the 47th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Paul Tolkmitt was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Hungary's Katona Janos got a free kick in the 50th minute. 56 minutes into the match, Borussia Dortmund's goal looked a bit too open when Antal Valentin came free, but Reynaldo Custódio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Antal Valentin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 62 minutes into the match, Borussia Dortmund's goalkeeper Reynaldo Custódio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Major Barna. Major Barna's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Reynaldo Custódio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. If Major Barna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Balazs Lajos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reynaldo Custódio having to interfere. Major Barna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 85 minutes into the match, Borussia Dortmund's goalkeeper Reynaldo Custódio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Antal Valentin. The audience thought a goal was coming when Major Barna got free with Reynaldo Custódio in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Vörös Henrik managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hungary's supporters rose to their feet, but Vörös Henrik was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Reynaldo Custódio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Hungary booed when Borussia Dortmund was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Helge Rosenthal didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antal Valentin in the 92nd minute of play forced Borussia Dortmund's goalkeeper Reynaldo Custódio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Antal Valentin struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Reynaldo Custódio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hungary. Marinus Buhr charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marinus Buhr the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 95th minute, one of Borussia Dortmund:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Borussia Dortmund. Hungary played a much better game than Borussia Dortmund and deserved their victory. The Borussia Dortmund players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
