The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Marquês de Herval's goal looked a bit too open when Mohamed Basso came free, but Dida Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 5 minutes of play, Capibaribe Stars's Mohamed Basso made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dida Taffarel was left in no man's land by his defense there! Lothar Matthäus kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alfredo Martins in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Thomás Toscano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Mohamed Basso put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Dida Taffarel. In the 22nd minute Capibaribe Stars were awarded a corner. Wilton Fontes went to the cornerflag to take it. 25 minutes into the match, Capibaribe Stars's goal looked a bit too open when German Cano came free, but Thomás Toscano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dida Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mohamed Basso in the 33rd minute of play. Capibaribe Stars were awarded a corner in the 34th minute after Marquês de Herval's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Wilton Fontes took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Marquês de Herval's goalie and right to Hicham Al Azka. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Marquês de Herval's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Pan Zhi Peng walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nestor Paraibano got free with Thomás Toscano in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mohamed Basso in the 42nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dida Taffarel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Hicham Al Azka charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hicham Al Azka the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Capibaribe Stars getting a freekick after 49 minutes play. Hicham Al Azka hit a great ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alfredo Martins made a kick off. In the 55th minute, Capibaribe Stars's Mohamed Basso dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-4. 59 minutes into the match, Marquês de Herval's goal looked a bit too open when Mohamed Basso came free, but Dida Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 63rd minute Nestor Paraibano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomás Toscano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thomás Toscano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfredo Martins in the 65th minute of the match. Capibaribe Stars's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Wilton Fontes in the 68th minute. Lorenzo Mendebal hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Mohamed Basso could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Dida Taffarel made a huge save. Mohamed Basso received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Dida Taffarel came out and tried to block the shot, but Mohamed Basso slotted it home off the left post making it 0-5 in the 77th minute. Thomás Toscano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from German Cano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mohamed Basso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dida Taffarel having to make a save. With a little luck, Marquês de Herval's Dida Taffarel got control of the ball when Mohamed Basso tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 87th minute Nestor Paraibano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomás Toscano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thomás Toscano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from German Cano in the 94th minute of play. Marquês de Herval's Nestor Paraibano got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Capibaribe Stars walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
