The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Aílton de Lima's late challenge caught a Mexilhão F. C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aílton de Lima helped the player get up and apologised. If Stig-Åke Molander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 11th minute Abel de Lara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robinho Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Linares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Guga Tavares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vladimir do Vale, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. DJVAGALUMY FC.'s Robinho Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anaia Barba in the 27th minute of play. 28 minutes into the match, Ronaldinho Romero had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Robinho Amorim. DJVAGALUMY FC.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ronaldinho Romero was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. After a rather tough play, Mexilhão F. C.'s Arthur dos Santos got a free kick in the 31st minute. The supporters of Mexilhão F. C. booed when DJVAGALUMY FC. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Téo Furtado didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ronaldinho Romero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Robinho Amorim tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 38th minute Daniel Linares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guga Tavares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. DJVAGALUMY FC.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Aílton de Lima in the 40th minute. A nice corner shot did that Aílton de Lima got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Guga Tavares quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edson Recife during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.

Mexilhão F. C.'s Guga Tavares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save Mexilhão F. C. from getting a goal against them. After some careless play in the Mexilhão F. C. defense, Daniel Linares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Guga Tavares. The Mexilhão F. C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Guga Tavares should have stopped the shot. Daniel Linares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 59 minutes into the match, DJVAGALUMY FC.'s Daniel Linares sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Guga Tavares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in DJVAGALUMY FC.'s zone, Edson Recife stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Robinho Amorim came out of the goal and Edson Recife tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Guga Tavares made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Daniel Linares sent off a good shot on target. Daniel Linaress short, quick shot in the 64thth minute got Guga Tavares to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Guga Tavares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Linares in the 69th minute. Daniel Linares received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Guga Tavares came out and tried to block the shot, but Daniel Linares slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 74th minute. In the 78th minute, Daniel Linares ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Guga Tavares was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. DJVAGALUMY FC.'s Yuri Amorim was substituted for Téo Furtado. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Linares in the 82nd minute of play forced Mexilhão F. C.'s goalkeeper Guga Tavares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 84 minutes into the match, Edson Recife notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of DJVAGALUMY FC.'s Robinho Amorim. Robinho Amorim was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 88th minute, Daniel Linares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 91st minute, Arvin Larsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 92nd minute, Daniel Linares left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The DJVAGALUMY FC. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-4. Robinho Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anaia Barba in the 95th minute of the match. The DJVAGALUMY FC. supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing DJVAGALUMY FC. would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
