The crowd rose to their feet as Manolito Caminero kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Fabio Auer. That made the score 1-0 in the 16 minute of play. Fabio Schneider sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 21st minute Manolito Caminero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabio Auer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 23rd minute, Bras Abascal reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Fabio Auer. The goal made the score 2-0. In the 28th minute Manolito Caminero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabio Auer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 37 minutes into the match, Vincente Galdamez notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Austria's Fabio Auer. Fabio Auer was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Emil Seidler fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Austria's protests and gave Emil Seidler a yellow card for diving instead. In the 66th match minute, Austria was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emil Seidler to maneuver through the defense.
