The crowd rose to their feet as Ími Friðbertsson kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Dieter Eberle. That made the score 1-0 in the 45 minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Konrad Cakir made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ronny Gantenbein got free with Gil Ceni in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Chris Lo Russo hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jørgen Holmgren in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dieter Eberle prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dieter Eberle didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Vestfjorden FK's Ími Friðbertsson shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 2-0 in the ordered_time% minute. In the 68th minute Michele Näscher shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gil Ceni saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ími Friðbertsson in the 74th minute of play forced Borussia Dortmund's goalkeeper Dieter Eberle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 81 minutes into the match, Jørgen Holmgren had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dieter Eberle. Borussia Dortmund's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jørgen Holmgren was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Borussia Dortmund's Dieter Eberle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jørgen Holmgren in the 90th minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Borussia Dortmund players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Vestfjorden FK.
