Though ot was a great shot ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's keeper Remigio Valerón was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. 17 minutes into the match, ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's goal looked a bit too open when Guillermo Marin came free, but Remigio Valerón reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 18 minutes into the match, ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's Jakes Vila sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pepe Toxeiro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Remigio Valerón made an important save on a dangerous shot by Renato Tapia in the 23rd minute. Jakes Vila's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pepe Toxeiro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. Everardo Arias didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 45 minutes, Jakes Vila managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jakes Vila was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Renato Tapia to make the kick off. In the 52ndth minute of the game Renato Tapia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's Remigio Valerón was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Guido Escobar hit a great ball. Everardo Arias took the ball and in the 86 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Remigio Valerón. After some careless play in the ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO defense, Everardo Arias kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Remigio Valerón. The ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Remigio Valerón should have stopped the shot. If Guillermo Marin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match clock showed 94 minutes, the score became 7-0 when Everardo Arias sped through ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Remigio Valerón. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Real Club Celta de Vigo fans cheered their team off the field, for while ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
