Amadeo Laras short, quick shot in the 9thth minute got Albano Unzueta to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 11th minute of the match Los once leones Ourense got a corner. ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Nereo Cacheres ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Los once leones Ourense's Leandro Merino to fire away a dangerous shot which Remigio Valerón despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Jakes Vila succeeded in the game's 12th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nereo Cacheres in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Remigio Valerón prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 31st minute, Raúl Ramis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Amadeo Lara took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 31st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Albano Unzueta. Los once leones Ourense's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nereo Cacheres to strike the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Nereo Cacheres managed to get in a good position for a shot. Los once leones Ourense's supporters rose to their feet, but Nereo Cacheres was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Remigio Valerón breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nereo Cacheres in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Los once leones Ourense. Jakes Vila shot the penalty kick right outside the post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jakes Vila in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Albano Unzueta saved Los once leones Ourense from getting behind. 66 minutes into the match, Los once leones Ourense's goal looked a bit too open when Laerte Favoretto came free, but Albano Unzueta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 67 minutes into the match, Los once leones Ourense's Nereo Cacheres sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Remigio Valerón narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO booed when Los once leones Ourense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position.
