Vincent Solera received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Remigio Valerón tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. But to his dismay, Lesardo Alavedra quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Jakes Vila sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Remigio Valerón made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vincent Solera in the 28th minute of play. The corner led Deportivo Alavés's Lesardo Alavedra to fire away a dangerous shot which Remigio Valerón despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's zone, Sergi Gómez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Remigio Valerón came out of the goal and Sergi Gómez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jakes Vila struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Nils-Åke Andreasson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO. In the 35th minute Vincent Solera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Remigio Valerón saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's Guillermo Rapado managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Aggelos Papadias in the 37 minute of the game. In the 39th minute Wiggo Wipp shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Remigio Valerón saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gustavo Calderon was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 40 minutes into the match. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jakes Vila made a kick off. After 54 played minutes Deportivo Alavés got a freekick which was hit by Vincent Solera. In the 56th minute of the match ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO got a corner. Deportivo Alavés's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Amadeo Lara ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Amadeo Lara almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Deportivo Alavés's Nils-Åke Andreasson did a great save. Nils-Åke Andreasson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Saverio Castelao, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nils-Åke Andreasson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laerte Favoretto in the 61st minute of the match. 62 minutes in the game, Lesardo Alavedra fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Remigio Valerón having to interfere. The corner led to Deportivo Alavés's Wiggo Wipp getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
