After 24 played minutes Celta de Virgos got a freekick which was hit by Arnoldo Florian. Celta de Virgos's Roman Urbes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcos Berdoi in the 31st minute of play. Roque Silviano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Germano having to interfere. After 36 played minutes Club Atlético Atlanta got a freekick which was hit by Edgard Barros. In the 40th minute Rosendo Cutberto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roman Urbes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlos Germano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnoldo Florian in the 41st minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Arnoldo Florian to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Arnoldo Florian left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Celta de Virgos fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Carlos Germano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnoldo Florian, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. The supporters of Celta de Virgos booed when Club Atlético Atlanta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Santos Oskitz didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Casimiro Leizarraga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 95th match minute, Club Atlético Atlanta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Santos Oskitz to maneuver through the defense. For all the effort they put into the match, the Club Atlético Atlanta players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Celta de Virgos.
