The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for 23 de Novembro FC - DMZ. When the match had been going on for 22 minutes, Breguete FC's Duda Ceresso got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Aloísio Simão. Sidnei Mineiro was extremely unlucky when he, in the 33rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. 38 minutes into the match, Breguete FC's goal looked a bit too open when Sílvio Marques came free, but Claudinei Proença reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Amauri Goiano to make the kick off. In the 83rd minute, Ciro Duarte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of 23 de Novembro FC - DMZ booed when Breguete FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Angelo Gerber didn't get a good kick on the ball.
