The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Matro Perramon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pipis Karapatakis in the 9th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Pipis Karapatakis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Matro Perramon was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. Pipis Karapatakis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Matro Perramon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Matro Perramon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grêmio FBPA. Karlo Gavilanes hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match.

Matro Perramon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Deivid de Sena in the 51st minute of the match. 59 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's Pipis Karapatakis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Matro Perramon narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 73 minutes, Vidal Cantabrana mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Universitario and the Grêmio FBPA players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Grêmio FBPA booed when Universitario was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vidal Cantabrana didn't get a good kick on the ball. Grêmio FBPA's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
