Matro Perramon was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Marcos Berdoi's late challenge caught a Universitario's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. Bonifacio Morentin shot from long distance in the 44th minute, but Pankracy Glogowski was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. In the 48th minute, Club Atlético Atlanta's Emil Chwalkiewicz seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Emil Chwalkiewicz the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Club Atlético Atlanta protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Emil Chwalkiewicz had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After the first half Club Atlético Atlanta were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The supporters of Universitario booed when Club Atlético Atlanta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eustaquio Jaizki didn't get a good kick on the ball.
