Grêmio FBPA's Nestor Leão was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Pankracy Glogowski in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. A collision led to Club Atlético Atlanta getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Marcos Berdoi hit a great ball. 33 minutes had been played when some careless play by Club Atlético Atlanta's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Alberto Estevon was slow to take the kick. During this time Grêmio FBPA's players had a chance to rest. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Pipis Karapatakis ran back to his position shaking his head. Filiph Biörling sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pipis Karapatakis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute.
